Ponte da Amizade – Video by Fronteira Tech
This video shows the technology provided by our partner Juganu as a key enabler of the smart monitoring system. The project among ABDI (Agência Brasileira de Desenvolvimento Industrial), Alfândega da Receita Federal, and INDT (Instituto de Desenvolvimento Tecnológico) improves the border control between Foz do Iguaçu (PR) in Brazil and Ciudad del Este in Paraguay with the usage of technologies like Facial Recognition, Car License Plate Recognition, Artificial Intelligence, IoT (Internet of Things), and Big Data.
This represents an important add-on to custom control for the busiest border of Brazil: almost 100,000 people/daily and 40,000 cars/daily. The monitoring center (Centro Integrado de Operações de Fronteira (Ciof)) is a place of 6,458 Sqf (600 Sqm) located at Parque Tecnológico Itaipu (PTI) with investments of R$ 2.9 million.
There are 33 Smart Luminaires installed at the entrance and exit of Customs as well as along the bridge, with two high definition cameras in each of them, with a total of 66 pieces of equipment with the capacity to make Facial Recognition and identify Car License Plates in real time. Other four fixed cameras with the same technology are located in strategic points. On top of that, there are 15 LED Luminaires with Telemanagement & GPS and 11 shooting sensors able to detect any gun shot.
Among the installed technology there is an Artificial Intelligence Software able to identify patters to generate data that helps to fight against crimes as drug traffic and fire guns smuggling. For example, if a car is stolen, at the moment it passes the bridge, the system is able to identify its license plate and trigger the alarm. The same happens with the Face Recognition of people that are wanted by the justice.
The expectation is to replicate this project in other Brazilian Border Customs, at Federal Highway Police Posts, in Municipalities with high crime rates, or even in the security of Companies and Industrial Parks. The investment on this acquisition, installation and operation of equipment and software at Ponte da Amizade is US$ 1.25 million (R$ 5 million).
The entire system, which includes the Smart Street Lighting Network, with Cameras, Wi-Fi, Shooting Sensors, Facial Identification and Pattern Recognition System, which is installed at Customs in Ponte da Amizade, was tested at the Living Lab (Laboratório Vivo) that opened in January 2019 in a partnership between ABDI and the Itaipu Technological Park (PTI). The Living Lab was set up to demonstrate and evaluate solutions for Smart Cities.
But as an image is better than a thousand words, please watch the video and contact us to discuss your own project.
