Our partner Juganu, in this video, tells the story of the worldwide launching of 5G integrated to Street Lighting in the city of Curitiba, Paraná.

This is the first stage of the CONECTA 5G program that includes ten cities around Brazil. CONECTA 5G creates the infrastructure framework to let the transformation process for municipalities and any other productive business in Brazil.

A seamless integration of the 5G antennas to the smart luminaires make this equipment the natural solution to the issue of installing so many antennas to deploy the 5G technology. This way the municipalities have the funds to get a state-of-the-art street lightening at the time that the telecommunication companies could use this infrastructure avoiding the troublesome of getting places where the antennas could be installed.

The main advantages of this project that for sure will be imitated by other countries are:

• Last mile connectivity
• 70% reduction in the use of fiber optic
• Everything is integrated in one platform
• Resolve the issue of the antennas installation
• The 5G is inbuilt in the street lighting (own by the municipality or of whom the government decides serves better the interest of the people)
• Standardization of the 5G frequencies for Smart Cities
• Set the model for the world on how to use the public spaces in the smartest way
• Could generate a new revenue stream for the municipality
